While the 4th of July celebration is Colon's biggest one day event, without a doubt the biggest one week event is the Abbott's Magic Get Together, or as the townsfolk like to say, "Magic Week". Usually early August each year, the Abbott Magic Get Together that is recognized nationally and is four straight days of nothing but magic. We will touch briefly on it here as it is far to much information to discuss in detail here so if you want more information, click here (the Get Together website has over 10,000 pictures alone).
During these four days there is a Vegas quality evening show each night at 8pm. These shows are popular with the bus tours as they usually show up mid-day to enjoy the festivities in town which include live entertainment, magic on the streets, flea markets, and magic shows.
The Abbott's Magic Get Together began in 1934 and made about $80, which was considered a financial success during the great depression. That first year only magicians were invited, and the same for the second year. Since then it has been open to the public and the event has never looked back but only grew in popularity.
Now in 2026, Abbott's is having its 88th version of the Get Together and all are welcome. During the day, visitors and tourist enjoy the events going on in the city while magicians attend lectures. Everyone joins up for the 8pm evening show at the Colon High School.
To set up a bus tour during this time it's best to contact Abbott's directly at 269 432 3235, and they will work out the details with you. Remember that this is the busiest time of the year for Abbott's so please try to give them at least a weeks notice.
