Welcome to Colon Michigan Welcome to Colon Michigan

     SUMMERTIME TOUR INFO

There are two huge festivals in Colon that are so big, the restaurants cannot handle bus tour patrons. During these two events (4th of July Parade & Magic Week) people from buses are on their own to find restaurants and places to eat, which shouldn't be a problem.

Summer is a great season for the Magic Capital, not only because of the events, but also because the summer cottage season begins and many people who were not here in the Fall, Winter and early Spring are here now to enjoy the magnificent Colon summers and beautiful landscaped scenery.

Usually in early August the Abbott Magic Get Together takes place, which the townsfolk refer to as "Magic Week". It is 4 full days of magic and is one of the top festivals in the United States. In fact the Detroit Free Press named it the top unique festival in all of Michigan. Visitors to the Magic Capital will see why it has earned that name as their will be magic in the streets, in the restaurants, and of course in the magic shops. Each evening ends with a "Vegas" quality magic show which will feature the best magicians from around the world. The evening shows are in the high school gymnasium which Abbotts refurbishes into a stage for the festival.

Bus tours and general tourism is also at its high point in the summer due to the warm weather, lake activities, and schools being out in Michigan.

Summer also begins the Farmers Market season at the Magic Capital with farmers from nearby bringing in their harvest up until late October. The farmers market is at the Colon Community Park Pavilion each Saturday from 7am till 11am. The food is probably the freshest you can find as you are bypassing the supermarket chains.
